My Review:
What an amazing read. This book hooked me from beginning to end and I read it in one day. Let me back up and start with the cover art. This cover just makes you want to read this story to know more. The dress the girl wears is so obviously old school so you know there is something that fits so well with the story.
The characters were so well written in this story. Phoenix is a typical girl that attends Barinkoff Academy. The world building was amazing and the academy was described so vividly. It just felt so dark and mysterious. We start off right into the action with Phoenix breaking the one school rule, Don't break curfew. What happens from there is hold onto your seat action. We meet the Night students and I was hooked. I had to find out what they were. Phoenix is rescued from danger by the mysterious and oh so sexy Demetri.
Oh Demetri where have you been? He was so dreamy and mysterious and has such a way about himself. He would have you falling fast and not even see it coming until it was too late. Phoenix decides to delve deeper an unravel the mystery and learns of an amazing world that she didn't know existed. Along the way she meets Dray who asks her to do the unthinkable. I loved the character of Dray. The mad scientist way about him was so cute and made him so endearing.
We also meet Luka. Luka was another well written complex character. I could tell there was something beneath the surface about him that he was hiding. It just made him more appealing though. I liked that he was so open with Phoenix. It seemed that she brought him out of his shell.
Phoenix meets some other people along the way while she adjusts to this new world. I loved that her love for her mom lead her to making the ultimate sacrifice. She was a really strong and brave character. I loved the magnetic pull between her and Demetri. I found myself so drawn into their world. I have to tip my hat at the author for the amazing reveal also. I can't say that the Night Students revelation was what I expected and I was ok with that. It was nice to have something different for a change.
Overall the author created an amazing read. The words flowed so well and the writing style was brilliant. The author characters and setting were well developed also. I was invested in this book from beginning to end and didn't want it to end. I can't wait for more from this amazing author. This book will leaving you wanting more than a taste.
